Adverse weather conditions are currently causing delays to mail sent within the USA. The conditions are local to our US based printing station and so will affect all mail sent to the USA from mid day on Friday the 5th of February. Mail will be sent to the postal service as soon as conditions return to normal but customers should expect delays.

If you looking for an interesting day out then you might want to check out the Tropical Extravaganza festival being held at Kew Gardens. The festival in being help in the Princess Wales Conservatory and runs for a month. It features hundreds of varieties of orchids, bromeliads and anthuriums and has taken around a year to prepare. It runs from Saturday 6 February to Sunday 7 March.

Heavy snow across the UK is currently causing delays to mail in many areas. Customers should expect mail deliveries to take longer during the adverse weather conditions. Rural areas are particularly affected.

Royal Mail have recently launched a new series of stamps featuring famous album covers. The stamps should start appearing on mail within the next week and feature 10 different album covers. These include Pink Floyd's The Division Bell, Coldplay's A Rush of Blood to the Head, Primal Scream's Screamadelica, Blur's Parklife, New Order's Power, Corruption and Lies, the Stones' Let It Bleed, Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells, Led Zeppelin's fourth (untitled) album, and Bowie's Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars.

Any mail sent after 4pm on Thursday the 24th of December will be sent on the available working day Tuesday the 29th of December. Christmas Day and Monday the 28th of December are public holidays and there is no postal service available on these days. Any mail sent after close of business will be queued in our system and processed on the next available working day. Eurostar services have been subject to severe delays and cancellation over the past few days. On Friday five trains carrying passengers broke down. This incident has led to Eurostar cancelling all its services due to difficulties caused by the cold weather. It is thought the problem is caused by hot air in the tunnel melting snow which has accumulated under the trains causing the water to drip into the operating systems. All trains were cancelled yesterday and today Eurostar closed its shuttle car service to new arrivals whilst it works to clear the backlog. It is hoped that a limited service will be resumed by Tuesday and Eurostar have said "We will do our best to get everybody home by Christmas." The firm hopes to run two thirds of a normal service on Tuesday with more services planned on Wednesday and Thursday. The company has asked passengers who had planned to travel over the next few days to change their booking if possible and passengers without booking are being advised that they will not be able to buy a ticket.

British Airways have won a court battle which will prevent planned strikes going ahead over the Christmas period. Mrs Justice Cox granted a High Court injunction and refused United permission to appeal although the union can apply directly to the Court of Appeal. Mrs Justice Cox said "A strike of this kind over the twelve days of Christmas is fundamentally more damaging to BA and the wider public than a strike taking place at almost any other time of the year." BA said of the decision "We are delighted for our customers that the threat of a Christmas strike has been lifted by the court.
